About the Des Moines Pride Center

Located in the Mickle Community Center, 1620 Pleasant Street, Des Moines, IA – The Des Moines Pride Center is an incubator that hosts a number of programs and startup groups.  We host a number of events every month, including the “First Thursday Social” community potluck, Transformations Iowa (every Wednesday at 7pm), the Queer Women’s Support Group (every other week on Sunday at 1pm), Central Iowa Poly (second Saturday of the month at 5pm), and a number of other groups that meet in our spaces.

A good way to keep up with our activities is through our Facebook Page!

Our LGBT Library

Read any good books lately?

The library contains nearly 2,000 GSM (Gender and Sexual Minority) based books and videos. These include fiction and nonfiction titles for teens as well as DVDs of TV Programs and documentaries (to name a few examples).

All materials in the library have been generously donated to the Pride Center by individuals and organizations. Donations of materials and funds to purchase materials are always welcome.

Please stop in and check out our new library! We look forward to assisting you!

Our annual fundraising appeal!

Is it worth $1/month to support the resources and programs of the Des Moines Pride Center?  We are asking if everyone could contribute just a small amount every year to keep our offices open and the LGBT library fully supported, along with the meeting spaces for many established and developing groups of interest to the LGBTQ+ community!

The Des Moines Pride Center is a 501(c)3 Organization that serves, supports, and celebrates gender and sexual minorities and their allies.  We ask if you would consider making a tax-deductable contribution to the mission of the center…  $1 a month or any amount that you feel would help.
